Case: YouTube Training for the NGO ANTS (Anna Hopko’s Channel)

The NGO ANTS runs the YouTube channel of Anna Hopko, a former parliamentarian and human rights advocate. The content is strong and the topics are important. But the channel was receiving far fewer views than a channel of this level could potentially generate.

Goals

ANTS wanted their important content to reach its full potential: improve video visibility in search and recommendations, grow the audience organically, and expand its reach — so that Anna Hopko’s voice could be heard not only by existing subscribers, but by a much wider audience.

Starting Point — Before the Training

Mistakes:

  • video descriptions did not contain keywords — YouTube did not understand what the videos were about
  • video tags were missing
  • timestamps with keywords were not used

Traffic:

  • unstable, with sharp spikes and drops
  • the number of views depended on the guest’s name rather than the quality of the content

What We Did

We conducted two two-hour webinars — analyzing the channel’s issues using specific examples from Anna Hopko’s videos and teaching the team how to optimize descriptions, tags, and timestamps and research keywords for YouTube.

Between the webinars, the team completed homework with our feedback.

End Point — After the Training

What Changed:

  • descriptions now contain keywords
  • tags and timestamps are added to every video
  • traffic is growing steadily
  • average views surpassed 5,000 — and are no longer dependent on how well-known the guest is

YouTube — a search engine.

After two webinars, the ANTS team learned how to send it the right signals — and the channel began growing steadily, while Anna Hopko’s content reached the audience it deserved.
