+55% Clicks Without Publishing a Single New Article: Frontliner.ua Case Study
Frontliner.ua is a Ukrainian media organization covering civil safety, information verification, and important practical topics for readers during wartime. Its content is high-quality and in demand, but Google was not giving it enough visibility.
Goals
Increase the website’s search visibility and attract more readers to existing content — without creating new content.
Starting Point — Before Optimization
- The website had stable but limited traffic
- Many pieces of content ranked in positions 5–20 but were not generating enough clicks
- Metadata did not match readers’ search intent
What We Did
We selected 100 articles with SEO potential — pages that were already receiving impressions in Google but were not converting them into clicks. We completely rewrote the meta titles and meta descriptions, focusing on search intent and improving CTR. We implemented the changes directly in the admin panel and checked each page.
In parallel, we prepared technical briefs for updating another 15 pieces of content that ranked on pages 2–3 of Google, with changes to their structure, keywords, and content approach.
End Point — Results
What Changed:
- Clicks: 6,070 → 9,420 (+55%)
- Impressions: 358,000 → 926,000 (+159%)
- Average position: 9.3 → 6.9 (an improvement of 2.4 positions)
Individual queries for the updated content showed an even more significant result: “how to check a fundraising campaign for fraud” — from zero to 151 clicks, “state awards of Ukraine” — from zero to 128 clicks, “what to do in case of a missile strike threat” — from 1 to 78 clicks.
The problem was not the topics or the quality of the content, but how it was presented to search engines. Updating the metadata of 100 pieces of content without creating a single new article resulted in +55% clicks and nearly three times more impressions in Google.
